1. Compared to some other flooring industries this one is highly regulated. The cork used in this type of flooring is obtained from the cork oak tree and cannot be taken from any that are less than 25 years old. However, with this form of flooring you will find that the whole tree does not need to be cut down to produce it. All they do is remove the bark from the tree to make it and this over time then grows back. So providing us with a completely renewable source of flooring and this is why this form of flooring is considered to be so friendly for the environment. 2. When you look at some other forms of flooring now available you will find that made from cork is considered to be more resilient. The cellular structure of this particular type of material contains microscopic pockets within it and these help the cork floor to return to the state it originally was even when pressure is put upon on it. In fact the air pockets in this type of floor act like shock absorbers so you will find it comfortable to walk on. 3. This type of flooring is far more resistant to moisture than other forms of flooring because it contains a waxy substance within it called suberin. However, although it is resistant to moisture should you spill anything on your cork floor it is important that you immediately wipe it up. 4. You may find that a cork floor is a suitable type of flooring to install should you or any member of your family suffer from allergies. Again the suberin within the cork flooring makes it highly resistant to insect infestation plus also all kinds of mildew and mold. |
