Install Laminate Flooring
|
When it comes to measuring the room it is a good idea to purchase a couple of extra packs. This way you will have it on hand if needed should your measurements be slightly out. What you don’t want happening is that you get half way through the project to find you need more only to discover the store where it was purchased doesn’t stock it any more. Step 2 – It is important that you make sure that before you begin the installation of your laminate flooring you put down the relevant underlay first. As well as helping to provide a more level surface on to which the flooring can be laid it will help provide protection against the growth of mildew and mold underneath. Remember there is still the likelihood of moisture seeping up from underneath and attacking the laminate flooring you lay. Step 3 – When it comes to laying your laminate flooring you should start off by laying it along the longest wall in the room first. Also make sure that a gap of ¼ inch is left between the boards and the walls on all sides. The reason for leaving this gap is to allow the laminate flooring space to expand and contract as the levels of humidity and temperature within the room throughout the year change. If you are unsure if you have got a ¼ inch gap then use spaces to make sure that this happens. Step 4 – Make sure that you lay the laminate flooring boards away from the wall and stagger them to ensure that the seams do not match up. This again allows the boards to expand and contract and won’t result in them having to be replaced. |
